Introducing Something More than a Deep South Bus Tour
What's better than a bus tour of Savannah, Georgia or a bus tour of Charleston, South Carolina? The answer is BVT America's deluxe escorted motor coach tour of the Deep South Low Country. BVT's newest destinations have been combined to give a taste of historic Charleston and historic Savannah in the grand style, which BVT America's clients have come to expect. Stroll the graciously elegant gardens of an authentic Deep South Plantation, in existence since 1676. Gaze at the beautiful garden squares of Savannah surrounded by tree-lined streets dripping with Spanish Moss. These cities of the Low Country are geographically close, but miles apart in attitude and culture.Motor Coach Tour of Charleston SC
Known as "The Holy City" because of its openness with freedom of religion, Charleston is dotted with historic churches dating back to the 18th century. From its humble beginnings in 1670 as Charles Towne, Charleston is a vibrant city, honoring its past and forging a future. As a major seaport in the agricultural south, Charleston has always played an important role in commerce, and because of this has been a battlefront on many occasions. Join us on a cruise to Fort Sumter, which was so aggressively fought for during the Civil War. Even today, Charleston is the nation's fourth largest seaport, and the second largest on the east coast. See the USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier as we board the Spirit of Carolina for a Charleston Harbor Cruise. Before departing Charleston we'll tour Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, one of America's oldest plantations and on the National Register of Historic Places. Magnolia Plantation is also home to what is widely considered to be one the most beautiful gardens in the world.Motor Coach and Trolley Tour of Savannah GA
"The Hostess City", Savannah, Georgia is just two hours southwest of Charleston, and though also a shipping town, people flock to Savannah to see the Savannah Squares. The 22 squares laid out throughout Savannah's historic district are the tiaras of the city and the beautifully restored estates surrounding those squares are its shimmering jewels. Whether touring through Davenport House and Mercer House, or viewing other historic homes from the included Trolley Tour, BVT America will give our clients a unique perspective of a bygone era. It's often said that when people imagine what the Deep South looks like, their mind's eye sees Savannah in all its garden splendor. We'll see Fort Pulaski, one of the last brick and mortar forts built in the country, then spend the mid-morning on nearby Tybee Island and see the famous Tybee Island Lighthouse. Enjoy a Broadway Style Musical at the Historic Savannah Theatre (America's oldest continually operating theater). BEWARE! Savannah is also reported to be the most haunted city in America. Our travelers will have an opportunity to do an optional Savannah Ghost Tour, but its at their own risk.Unique Dining in Charleston, South Carolina and World Famous Dining in Savannah, Georgia
Unlike many destinations, meals in Savannah and Charleston are part of the attraction. We'll enjoy a four-course gourmet Dinner Cruise on Charleston Harbor. Forrest Gump's momma always said, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." Thankfully restaurants aren't like chocolates, and at Bubba Gump's, you'll always get good food, good service, and plenty of atmosphere. We'll learn the "Boarding House Reach" at Mrs. Wilkes' Boarding House, which has been touted as having the best food in Savannah for over 40 years. Mrs. Wilkes' food is Low Country cooking at its best - simple food, cooked to perfection and served family-style. We'll be part of the action in a Murder Mystery Dinner in The Pirates House (serving food and spirits since 1754). Finally, who could resist a meal at Paula Deen's The Lady and Sons Restaurant? Experience the signature style of the Food Network host of Paula's Best Dishes, Paula's Party, and Paula's Home Cooking.Important - Travelers with Disabilities
Since many of the attractions on the Deep South Low Country Tour of Savannah and Charleston are historic sites that have been preserved in their original form, wheelchair access is extremely limited. In addition travelers taking this tour should be in reasonably good health, as many of the attractions must be visited on foot. Some of the historic locations require substantial walking (possibly on uneven surfaces). There are also a number of locations that required climbing stairs. Unfortunately, since our BVT America Tour Directors have many travelers to account for, BVT America is not able to provide travelers with special needs any personal assistance in these matters. For a person needing special assistance, BVT America requires that he or she have a traveling assistant who is fully responsible for meeting those needs.2010 Savannah, GA & Charleston, SC Tour Programs
