U.S. Mint Denver Colorado
Established in 1863, the United States Mint in Denver was originally the Assay Office, used by miners bringing in gold dust and nuggets to melt into bars, weigh, stamp, and assess quality. In 1904 the U.S. Department of Treasury decided to turn the Assay Office into a working mint. The Italian Renaissance style building, which is still used today, opened and first started minting in 1906. Minting circulating coins of all denominations, coin dies, un-circulated coin sets, and commemorative coins authorized by the U.S. Congress, the Denver Mint often produces in excess of 50 million coins per day. Join BVT America on one of the Denver Mint Tours to get a new perspective on the coins that Americans use daily.
