Magnolia Plantation and Gardens
Since 1676, Magnolia Plantation has been owned and managed by the Drayton Family, and is currently home to the eleventh generation of Draytons. Experience the elegance of Magnolia Plantation House, gardens, and grounds, on your tour of the world famous plantation. Charles Kuralt described the estate as "My Greatest Charleston pleasure." You'll enjoy a guided tour of the plantation house showcasing the Drayton Family's collection of early-American antiques and other heirlooms. You'll also board a tram and tour some of the 500 acres that make up the plantation while a guide interprets plantation life and educates you about the wildlife that calls Magnolia home. During your time at Magnolia probably the most memorable experience will be that of the gardens. For over a century many experts have considered it "the most beautiful garden in the world." Magnolia is the oldest major public Garden in America, with over thirty acres gracing the estate.
